Hi and thank you for visiting this site.
I am a Brazilian from Minas Gerails that migrated to Australia 30 years ago. I was very lucky to be able to travel around the world and visit incredible places and you can see some of these very personal work here.
Currently, I work full-time photographing products, people and places for commercial and advertising use. It is very much delivering what and how the client wants. It was not like this when I started.
When I got my first camera, it was a super selfish thing. It was my way of doing something that I did not need anyone else. My way of going where I want, photographing what I want and the way I want. The only person that I want to make happy was myself.
The film and slides were very expensive for me and I could only offord a few rols per month. I had to learn all I could to give me the best chance to end up with the image I want without wasting time and money.
I read a book called “Fotografia Manual Completo de Arte e Tecnica” . It was an adaptation from the seires Time-Life books. Copyright 1976 (Time-life). It is still a great book.
I still remember the excitement to see for the first time the slides of the last weekend trip to a historical town.
The first results were not great but I learned a lot from them.
Since the begining, I decided to be in control of the whole process, so I photographed using slides as the results were not tampered with from labs.
I have developed my own films both B&W and even slides. This way I could control the results from click to print.
